President Putin accused Nato yesterday of threatening Russia’s security and ordered the military to place the country’s strategic nuclear arsenal on a higher state of alert.
“In violation of previous agreements, certain member countries of the Nato alliance are increasing their resources next to our borders,” Mr Putin told generals in a meeting broadcast on state television. “Russia cannot remain indifferent to this obvious muscle-flexing.” Mr Putin, whose rhetoric has become more strident as relations with the West have deteriorated, went on: “One of the most important tasks remains raising the combat readiness of the strategic nuclear forces. They should be ready to deliver a quick and adequate reply to any aggressor.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle2910112.ece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JSLK-UnJyc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXZKoWmp1Qw |

Do I really need to explain that? Come on now...
Is this a political forum or some sort of MYSPACE.COM/POLITICALFEVER thing for teenagers? Putin is doing what a head of ANY state would do when facing huge foreign army (in this case it is NATO) right at the border. The action of the Western leaders speaks loader than words: 1. NATO countries refuse to ratify the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty which they signed back in 1990. "The current treaty fully suits the United States and NATO," Baluyevsky, the chief of general staff, told parliament. http://www.reuters.com/article/world...53243020071107 2. The US withdrew from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty: On December 13, 2001, George W. Bush declared that the United States would unilaterally withdraw from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty, and a year later he ordered the deployment of an anti-missile defense system. http://en.rian.ru/analysis/20070302/61469215.html 3. NATO troops are building up right at Russia's borders: Russia warns Nato over 'build-up' Russia will react to a Nato military build-up on its borders, President Vladimir Putin has warned. He said the alliance was violating earlier agreements, and confirmed that Russia would pull out of a key arms control accord with Nato countries. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7103429.stm I assume this is news to you. Correct? |

What do you mean by that? And what does it have to do with NATO and Western leaders actions? Putin wants to protect his country from American and European aggressors who started number of wars in the past 10 years.... US even wants to bomb Iran now... What would American president do if Russia invades Canada and number of Central American states? |
