These fears have been going on for a long time. I've been hearing that the US attacking Iran is imminent for over a year now. Unless Iran makes the first move, we will not get involved. As for the ceasefire, I can't believe people are using that as an excuse as evidence that they are getting ready to fight. If they chose not to do the ceasefire, they'd be called bloodthirsty warmongers, they do the ceasefire, and they are calculating warmongers. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

"Iran makes the first move" that is of course what they are going to claim, and they are likely looking very very hard for the slightest twitch of Iran's foot, just as an excuse. Iraq is their pet project, Cheney has been wanting this for at least 10 years (as per his membership on the PNAC), and Iran is a threat to that pet project.
