Well, fortunately your in the minority.
Since 9/11 was what the CIA called "blowback" for 50 years of American foreign policy in the Middle East, how about we knock off this crap of interfering in the internal affairs of other nations.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

And when the law changes to make presently legal behavior illegal?

Your contempt for liberty sickens me!

Than legislation that destroys what America stands for, yes. Than legislation that is just another step into a more oppressive government. Yes I would rather be free and live with that risk.

That would really prevent another 9/11.

Oh, but then we'd have to actually recognize that other nations have their own sovereignty and, well, we just can't allow that to happen! No, we have to make sure they understand why it is so important for them to accede to American interests.

It's no wonder so much of the world hates us!

Honest law abiding Americans who respect and love the constitution find this extremely intrusive and objectionable.

Scared Republicans, fearful of the evil doers don't mind the neocons destroying the constitution to "keep them safe".

DODD, FEINGOLD STATEMENT ON SENATE CONSIDERATION OF FISA
Will Immediately Offer Amendment to Strip Retroactive Immunity
June 24, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Russ Feingold (D-WI) released the following statement today in response to the announcement that the Senate this week will consider the compromise legislation that would reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) this week.

“This is a deeply flawed bill, which does nothing more than offer retroactive immunity by another name. We strongly urge our colleagues to reject this so-called ‘compromise’ legislation and oppose any efforts to consider this bill in its current form. We will oppose efforts to end debate on this bill as long as it provides retroactive immunity for the telecommunications companies that may have participated in the President’s warrantless wiretapping program, and as long as it fails to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans.

“If the Senate does proceed to this legislation, our immediate response will be to offer an amendment that strips the retroactive immunity provision out of the bill. We hope our colleagues will join us in supporting Americans’ civil liberties by opposing retroactive immunity and rejecting this so-called ‘compromise’ legislation.”

Here is something for those that may think that the TelCo's were acting in good faith to protect the lives of Americans. Then why did one company see fit to cut off the FBI's access when they did not pay their bill? The article I have linked to makes a good point; why is it that these companies did not notice there was no warrant in the mail but the second they did not get paid they cut service? They did not play ball with the Feds out of a patriotic duty or to save American lives. They did it for government contracts. If anyone of these companies would have said no then they would effectively ruin the chances of them getting contracts in the future.

Go Dodd and Feingold.

And I urge everyone to call Obama's office and object as well as call all of your Senators. Tell them not to let the law breakers off the hook. 800-828-0498.

Ask for Obama's office. Then call back and ask for Diane Feinstein's office. She might be the one to tip the scales. Then call back and ask for your own Senators.

Let your voices be heard. Not many people do this....so we that do, have big voices.

Exactly right. It all boils down to money. Except for the actual patriotic companies like Qwest, who refused to illegally wiretap their customers.
