KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.S.-led coalition says four Afghan civilians and several militants have been killed in an airstrike in eastern Afghanistan.

A coalition statement says that troops in Paktika province were targeting two militant leaders involved setting up attacks with explosives and helping foreign fighters. The troops were fired on and responded with airstrikes and gunfire.

U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green says the four civilians who died — three women and a boy — were all within the buildings the militants were firing from Tuesday.

She calls it "tragic" that the civilians died but blamed the militants for putting them in harm's way.

Nielson-Green says several militants were killed and that 12 were detained.

These are the same militants in the middle east who are willing to send out their wives and children to fight or blow themselves up, the militants who want to return a strict muslim law over everyone and punish anyone who doesnt follow it, and the same people who run death squads in Afghanistan and Iraq murdering thousands and thousands of people who do not follow their beleifs or refuse to take up arms or explosives and throw away their lives uselessly.

In a war against that kind of enemy, there will be collateral damage, because it is exactly what those enemies want.

The terrorists are those who drop the bombs that kill the civillians, not those defending their homeland from foreigh imperialist armies. In your book the French Resistance were the terrorists and not the nazi's whos empire they resisted.

No Afghan or Taliban is my enemy. Just remember if it weren't for the UK and primarily the US terrorist states there would be no Islamic resistance in Afghanistan. You reap what you sow. And they are finding out the hard way.

Mlurp you are old enough to remember that Afghanistan had a progressive government that gave sexual equallity and social programs to the people. It was your corrupt government along with the Thatcherites who created this mess.
