Any withdrawal will result in a power vacuum and of course the various groups will get out their guns. That's what they've been doing for years, getting ready for when we are gone. The civil war started a long time ago; we just got in the way.

We may be surprised about what may happen when we are not there as enablers. When Mom and Dad stop paying all the bills and bailing Junior out of jail, he suddenly grows up.

The Iraqis and Iranians have been fighting each other since the Sumerians and the Elamites waged war on each other (same people). Iraq and Iran may both be Shiite but I doubt the Iraqis will willingly be Iranian puppets. We act like no one can do anything without our help. Frankly I don't think anything will get solved over there with our help and we need to get out of the way.
