Good Deal!
![]() Iran and Russia may establish joint Navy in Caspian Sea TEHRAN, October 15 (RIA Novosti) - Iran will join a Russian-proposed joint naval task force in the Caspian region only after the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been determined, an Iranian analyst said on Monday. Moscow proposed setting up a joint naval force of Caspian Sea countries, to be named CasFor, in October 2005. According to the proposal, the five littoral states - Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan - will join efforts to prevent terrorism and trafficking in arms, narcotics and weapons of mass destruction in the Caspian Sea. "It is necessary to determine the legal status of the Caspian Sea before successfully implementing the CasFor project," said Abbas Maleki, head of the International Institute for Caspian Studies in Tehran. Leaders of the five Caspian states are expected to gather on October 16 for a summit in the Iranian capital to discuss how best to divide the resource-rich sea bed. "If the [Caspian] sea is divided between the five coastal countries, Iran will no longer share a border with Russia and participation in a joint military grouping would be senseless for Tehran," the analyst said. The submarine, dubbed Ghadir, is reportedly fitted with noise-reduction features and is capable of firing missiles and torpedoes simultaneously. "This submarine is equipped with advanced weapons and electronics systems. It has been developed in the last decade by [Iranian] scientists and engineers," a TV program quoted Navy commander, Admiral Habib Sayyari, as saying. The admiral also said the Navy commissioned a destroyer and a missile boat. According to various intelligence reports, Iran has been spending a considerable share of its defense budget on modernizing its naval forces over the last decade. http://en.rian.ru/world/20071128/89970209.html ![]() "Iranians have a fine image from Russians in mind" - Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei http://www.leader.ir/langs/EN/index.php?p=news&id=3693 Russian President Meets the Leader http://www.khamenei.ir/EN/News/detail.jsp?id=20071016C |

I think we should allow them to do so, because some other nation has got to start keeping the peace of this planet. America can't keep doing it or its people will destroy it.

i would say let them but they are two countries that really don't like the US and if would
put them really close to US with the capability to seriously hurt those stationed there if they so chose. i would say ok as long as they promised not to use it against US. |

And we are to believe any promise from either of these despots. Add China into the mix.
As it has developed a anti American stance at this time too. Plus Putin just signed a bill to do away with with an earlier agreement about allowing military force levels on areas that would be dangerous to western Europe. Sorry can't seem to find any report to post just yet. But Iran has left talks with Europe and no results are gained. EU-Iranian talks break up; no compromise By GEORGE JAHN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 3 minutes ago http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071130/...x60sk5RWGs0NUE LONDON - Talks between Iran and the European Union broke up Friday without compromise on Tehran's refusal to freeze uranium enrichment, and the top EU foreign policy envoy said he was disappointed at Tehran's refusal to budge. Officials decry port denial By Bill Gertz November 24, 2007 http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/...111240039/1001 Adm. Timothy J. Keating, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, called the USS Kitty Hawk's being denied entry to Hong Kong "a most unfortunate incident." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Pentagon criticized China yesterday for denying a Thanksgiving Day port visit to Hong Kong by the USS Kitty Hawk, but would not say whether the snub will lead to limits on military exchanges with Beijing. Pentagon and military officials were stunned by China's abrupt decision on Wednesday to disallow the carrier visit, which was planned for at least a month and timed for the holiday. "This was a most unfortunate incident that we are still working to better understand," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said, adding that it is "premature" to say whether military exchanges with China will be cut back as a result. but then of course when it comes to protecting the men in arms the government cant really do that because there are so many people that complain when they do something. i mean hell China wont let us stay at one of their ports and they ****************ing own ours. Is it just me or have we lost all tactical knowledge all together. the last time i checked you didn't let your enemy live in your camp. unless you wanted to die and i really don't.

*sigh*
Learn the difference between a rival and an enemy, people. Iran may be an enemy, but China, Russia, etc. are just rival powers that want to establish themselves by ticking off the superpower. They're not "the enemy" until and unless they cross lines they haven't crossed yet. |
