Default China's Missile Imports and Assistance From Israel

China's missile-related imports and assistance from Israel have been a subject of particular concern in the United States because of worries that Israel may be providing China with "back door" access to controlled, sensitive US technology. For example, in the early 1990s, reports surfaced that Israel had secretly transferred information on the US Patriot missile system to China, in violation of Israel's promise to the United States not to transfer the Patriot technology to any third country. Although both China and Israel denied the allegations, US government sources concluded that it was almost certain that a transfer of technology (though not physical equipment) had taken place.

China is reportedly using the Patriot technology to improve its surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems and to develop countermeasures against the Patriot for its ballistic and cruise missiles; reports also indicated that China intended to sell these SAMs and enhanced missiles to other countries, possibly including Iran. Reports suggested various Israeli motives for the transfer: some suggested that Israel had traded Patriot information for information on China's missiles; others asserted that Israel's transfer of Patriot technology was intended to encourage China to curtail its sales of ballistic missiles to countries in the Middle East such as Syria and Iran.

In addition to the alleged Patriot technology transfer, Israel has allegedly supplied China with cruise missile technology, including sensitive US technology. Specifically, Israel is allegedly assisting China with the development of its YF-12A, YJ-62, and YJ-92 cruise missiles.

In September 1992, responding to US accusations that Israel sold China Patriot missile secrets, Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen denied "that there had been any kind of military cooperation between Israel and China prior to the establishment of diplomatic relations."

Yes...why should Israel be trusted...after all, it's run by big ol' bad joooooos!

Please....if you think OUR own deals with countries we shouldn't be doing business with don't alarm OUR allies, you're not being intellectually honest with yourself, or anyone else for that matter.

When I see a plane hijacked by rabbis, hurling towards a skyscraper, I'll worry about Israel and who runs it. Yes yes yes....now I'm waiting for the "USS Liberty" crap to be pulled out of someone's backside. Please, I've heard it all.

Why do you trust them so much? They might not hurl planes at skyscrapers, but they're not all angels either....

And this isn't about the deals we have made with countries we shouldn't have, those aren't great deals either but don't excuse one side by saying the other side did the same thing...

Because they have been a steadfast ally for decades, and although BOTH of our nations have made mistakes which have harmed the other, we've maintained that alliance thru all the crap that goes on in that muslim-controlled region of the world. IMO, we have been the ones, recently, who've done Israel more harm than good...what with holding them back on a constant leash, begging them not to respond to attacks from their enemies. It's bogus! Let Israel defend herself, I say!

Ever look on a map and find israel, and then look at who their neighbors are? They are surrounded by people who's only wish is to destroy them. Therefore, our alliance with them is doubly-important...now that their enemies have also struck at US!

Nevermind the fact that their enemies have struck at us and our interests for a few decades now, with NO substantive and meaningful response from us, in return. Know what that did? It taught those enemies that the US will let things slide on occassion. That gave them the advantage and time necessary to plot and plan 9/11.

Never again!

I could say the same to you....don't make Israel out to be the constant "jew-rat", when other nations we are allied with, and do business with do just as much, or far worse, to us.

Constantly harping on Israel...when looking the other way about every other nation....gives clues to just where that angst is centered...and it DOESN'T have anything to do with how israel, as a whole, runs it's affairs.

Maybe holding back and not attacking after every little rocket a Palestinian throws could benefit Israel? I don't know much about the situation presently but I haven't heard about too much violence around that region. There are nations that want to destroy Israel, but Israel will not help the situation by being violent and threatening will they?

You could say the same to me but in a different situation. This article is about Israel and not the US. And I don't make Israel out to be the constant "jew-rat" as you put it, I was just asking why you should be trusting them so much all the time, and by saying this I'm not just looking at US/Israel relations.

I find it funny that those who complain the most about Israel (and who lives there) are the ones who throw the biggest fit and insinuate that Israel controls us. Yet, when asked, these are the same folks who tell Israel where to go, what to do, and who to do it with.

HYPOCRISY...of the highest calibur...and certainly NOT worth my time.

You don't think Israel, or the Jews, have a lot (and possibly too much) influence in the world?

Why don't you just call me a "Jew Lover"? You know you want to....

You and your types need to grow up, and stop 'infecting' the rest of the world.

And how the hell am I infecting the world? I don't control anything unlike Jews. :p

I just don't see why you get so defensive every time someone doesn't completely trust or agree with you.
