Ahh, Falwell.
Hope you're having fun being whipped and raped in the butt by Satan.

Having been raised in the church, I had this "tithe" nonsense blasted at me for my entire childhood. Everyone else in my family eagerly tithes to this day - and if they wish to so waste their money, let them - but I simply refuse to expend my personal funds in such a fashion.
If you have ten percent to give - and no, you blathering old prune, not everybody has cash to spare (not everybody is so heartless as to scam people under the pretense of purchasing God's favor) - shouldn't you invest it in the poor and sick? I'm sure plenty of local charities could put that money to good use helping children with severe illnesses or rape victims or anyone in an unfavorable situation. To give money to a church so it can continue to spread its fundamentalist hogwash is the equivalent of flushing that money down the drain. Except flushing the paper bills and checks down the drain is actually a better choice because they might serve to feed or shelter some poor sewer creature, whereas the church will only waste it on its own fruitless endeavors. I like how old fogies like this gentleman are so eager to enforce the old Biblical code of tithing. It is, after all, one of God's commands. It's in the Bible, so it must apply to us. The members of a church are obligated to help finance the church. This doesn't go very far to explain why so many "men of God" drive expensive cars and have huge houses - but such corruption is no surprise and has been a necessary evil of religion since the very beginning. It's no different from when the Catholic church would cajole the common folk into purchasing salvation for their loved ones - a fiscally sound indulgence - so that the bishops and high priests could line their own pockets with gold. Of course, if people would think for themselves and stop mindlessly funding this massive cult of a movement, they probably wouldn't be subscribing to it anyway. Wake up, folks. It's how people are raised, methinks. You'll find very few people who were brought up irreligious and then bought into the religion later in life. Many more people were brought up religious and lost most of their faith.
