Lumara, David killed Goliath but I guess he is not a christian because he killed Goliath during a war.....
I am a true christian. If I go to war and kill someone it will be because I had to or self defence. I will have done it for this country. I will still be a true believe and I will still have the lord watching over me and guiding and me and I will go to heaven because I accepted the lord into my heart and I believe in him. So I disagree with you here. Are you a christian Lumara? Last edited by MatthewCarman : 11-15-2007 at 11:44 PM. |

Religion teaches peace and love, as well as non-violence.......killing for some idea that some person conjured up in the imperfect human mind such as patriotism goes against that. It divides humanity against each other when in reality, we are all the same if we take all of our "supposed" differences away.
This is especially so with the spiritual aspects of religion.

I actually find that to be a problem in the protestant faith. (no offense) but they seem to believe if they "believe" in Jesus and truely follow his teachings than they are sure to be "saved" and they do not think good works has anything to do with it. While Catholics believe good works and faith goes together. but jmo, I'm sure there are arguments both ways.
and catholics are by no means perfect in their beliefs.Last edited by Dustin : 11-17-2007 at 12:59 PM. |

romans 10:9
9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Ephesians 2:9 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. as you can see it is not by works at all that you get to heaven. that is not to say that works don't matter. for example. james 2:14-17 14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. so do you need works yes but they are not what will save you only belief that christ died for you can do that. james 1:27 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. now i would say this is a really good reason to be in that portion of the world considering that women can't even show there faces in public and where young people are told that if they kill themself in the name of a horible religion IMO then that would be a good reason to go over there. |
