None of this surprises me, anyway. I've never seen a religion whore itself the way modern Fundamentalist Christianity does. Comes on just a tad strong, and the pungent air of sanctimonious smugness probably isn't the message they really wanted to convey. (I imagine some will get mad at me saying that, but it's how it looks to outsiders, sorry.)
I've never felt the need to shout my apatheism from the rooftops, nor create a huge, marketing industry of stickers, T-shirts, placards, etc. to self-reinforce what I believe. To do so reeks of a whiny desperation for outside validation, and self-congratulatory approval-seeking. So, knock it off, be quietly secure in your own beliefs, and quit plastering bumper stickers with nauseating treacle on your minivans.

I wonder if the DMV would mind if I applied for the Christ-plates but then got them personalized as such:

Or that you can't put seven characters on them. Actually, many special plates aren't available as vanity plates.

as annoying as it may be, I really don't have a problem with these nut-jobs putting 'God' on thier cars. However, if they're gonna do that, then at some point the state is gonna have to let me have a plate that says the following......

Then I can put a pentagram, an upside-down cross, and the words "No Faith" with a picture of some guy burning a Bible on my license plate.
