You'd be fine legally speaking right up until you start trying to read the entrails of your sacrificed goat - but only if you did this in public. As for the ensuing court case, suffice it to say that I'd like to be there for that!

If you Really want to know more about this, I would suggest you read some work by Joseph Campbell. I have above anything else spent lots of time on this subject and this guy has a great way of making it clear. there are a lot of similarity mostly on a metaphorical level.

but i will make a few small points.

Jesus like many other mythological hero's, Was born of a woman and a god.
Also born of no man were;
Hercules also a son of a god and under went trials and became a hero to the people.

Buddha and Jesus' stories closely resemble each other in the hero's journey. Both of them had 3 temptations they must have overcome to "win" in the end.

Fiction also has a few references to the hero. NEO, Darth Vader(and son)

the story of Adam and Eve is based off of an ancient African myth about "Man Woman and Snake"

If you look closely you will find allot of story's with the same meaning behind them.

this list really goes on i think religion has always had the same reason to exist .
