I most certainly am not a pagan.

I'm an atheist. Paganism is no different than Christianity or Islam in my book.

Christmas is probably the best example of this.

There is nothing more pagan than Christmas in our modern culture.

My advice to those who are religious - never try to rationalize your faith. Faith is inherently irrational and as such, is rationally or logically inviolate.
I have no problem with someone who will just be honest: faith and the workings of religion are not logical. However, I'm not going to criticize someone for having faith simply because of this. I only go hostile when they begin to try and rationalize it. The moment they insist that science backs them up, they've entered the logic arena. At that point, it is no longer a matter of faith; it's a matter of fact. The Creation Museum is a good example of this pathetic attempt to make Intelligent Design or any other religion fit in with science as a "theory" so more people will accept it. When I say "Pulling the Get out of Argument Free Card," I'm not criticizing those who just say that their faith is supernatural from the get-go. The ones I'm mocking are those who TRY to use facts, and then, once they fail miserably, they retreat to the super-logic argument with their tail between their legs.

I appreciate your viewpoint because you acknowledge that faith is not a substitute for logic, but a separate realm of thinking. Thank you for telling it like it is.

Quite correct. And thank you for saying Nicene Creed instead of Apostle's Creed.

Okay, so every branch of Christianity has a founder:
Mormonism - Joseph Smith, Jr.
Lutheranism - Martin Luther (not MLK, Jr.)
Baptist - John Smyth (not the explorer)

Catholic - JESUS CHRIST (the one, and only)

Even though all Christian denominations ultimately worship the same God, Catholicism is the only "branch" (if not, the whole tree) that can legitimately claim that it's founder is the one to whom they pray and worship.

So if Jesus said, "This is the way I wish to be worshipped," then why would there need to be any time to adapt, conform, and evolve over time?

God -- Jesus -- knows all, and he saw fit that the way he designed the church then would do well to serve society, his followers, well into the 21st century, and beyond!

Sorry. At best you may claim St.Peter as the founder of the RCC. Neither the Bible nor the Catholic Church existed with the lifetime of Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus your Christ is legitimately claimed by all of the above groups.

The only thing that annoys me more than atheistic-religion bashers is religious partisan extremists.

This division is still strong in Norn Ireland. I think the rest of Ireland is getting more tolerant, mainly among micks and macs.

Personally, it makes no difference to me. I am not so Catholic anymore since a boyhood friend encountered a pedophile priest.

I am however very fascinated with the ancient druid culture. I am aware of the British calling this pagan, but that misses the point of the close connection between religion back then and nature. It could be called a parallel to Native American religion.

I do seriously practice meditation but I don't regaurd it as sectarian.

if it isn't monotheist, it is pagan by definition.
