Default How far do we go until it's crazy?

It is commonly accepted in America that if somebody believes something because of faith, you don't argue against that because it's their own personal choice of religion as granted by the First Amendment.

But what if somebody said that they believed in an omnipotent being that demands cruelty toward animals and small children, the destruction of every other individual and entity (man or country) that denied him, and a theocratic totalitarian dictatorship under him?

The reason I post this on a political forum is that there has been some discussion lately of the religious beliefs of the candidates for President in '08, and some people feel that certain religious beliefs might lead to poor decision-making in government.

When somebody calls a candidate for office's religious beliefs into question, the response I often hear is "Why does it matter?" or "You should be tolerant." But we can't give a free pass to every possible belief - some of them, like the one I listed above, lead to nothing but grief, hatred, and injustice. How much should we "tolerate" before drawing the line?

After George Wrong Bush there is no decision that could be more detrimental to this nation than the ones made by him. Satin himself could not make worse ones.

Satan would be more evil, but also more competent.

No one like that is going to get elected in any case, methinks.

Oh I don't know April I am pretty sure Satan had a lot to do with many of the decisions Bush has made.

Magnvs as to your question about how much should we accept in religion in a presidential candidate is a good one.

Personally I prefer they keep their religion private.

There can be no state authorized religion, we all know that would be hell on earth.

So , the separation between church and state is a important part of our government.

I want a good moral person for president , educated and capable , I'd prefer somebody who ran their business successfully.

But I do not think religion should come into the elections at all.

I am about one of the most devoted and faithful followers of Christ you will come across , but religion has no place in the worlds governments. Believe me it only leads to major abuses and eventually mass murder for those who do not follow the state religion.
