Science has been converting people to atheism for centuries. It can't be stopped, as knowledge grows religious belief declines. I don't see how a book can cause such an outcry though.
It does give perspective on how different religions react to threats to their stability. Remember the "Satanic Verses"...

I'll clarify what I was saying. I am saying it is low for the author of these books to try to convert people to be atheist, and it is also low for people to try to convert people to Christianity or any other religion. I didn't mean that.... I guess I was just reading what some were saying that it was the authors intention to convert people to be atheist but that does not make me think that it's ok to convert people to other religions either.

I think saying that he was saying its not low to try and convert someone to another religion is a very loose definition of "a slightly broader context." You were making implications where there were none.

I doubt that a fantasy book/movie is going to convert people. And Christians really shouldn't complain about the movie, especially since the book series started over ten years ago. Way to strike while the iron's hot.

It was a question, not an accusation. He also saw fit to clarify it and realized that my broader context helped him do so. I rest my case.
