You wonder about it, but looking forward to it--I really doubt it. I think it's something people tell themselves to feel better about it.

well I am a nosey person, I want to know what happens, lifes final advente. beside no one ever said I was normal or sane

Of all the things we know or believe, the best way to find out what happens is by doing it, and well we will never find out what happens with us when we die until we try it.

death will come of us all, one time or another, fearing it doesnt make any sense, it will happen weather you fear ir or not, and the only way you will know what happens when you die is by dieing

This goes for the ultra-religious as well as the die-hard-atheists. No matter how strong your belief is, if someone truly believes he or she does not have fear of death, I think there's something rather scary about that person.

There are also several levels of fear.
I used to know a very devout Christian woman who died during open-heart surgery, but was revived after about 40 minutes. I got to know her fairly well in the 3 decades that she lived after her heart surgery and she was never afraid of dying after having done it once. I don't know what she experienced, but she accepted her own death with a calm anticipation that was interesting to witness.

Other people who have died and been brought back have reported similar feelings of calm anticipation. Maybe death is nothing more than another adventure.

Well friend, prepare to meet someone unafraid. I am 56. I have been knowingly near death several times. It was 'in my face' as they say. I was not afraid of it. I don't know if nature has some kind of safety device in us, or if some of us are simply better prepared. I can't say for sure. But I know that I was okay with it. My 'fears' if at all were for my family and the grief and pain they felt. But I am sincere here,- I was unafraid, all 3 times.

Curiously since my mother has passed my husband and I have begun to have some unexplainable things occur here in the house and have seen shadows here that are human shaped, but I don't pretend to understand that either. I only know that although I fear the possible pain of death, I don't fear death in and of itself. Maybe that comes with age and experience. It isn't even a religious thing for me. It's just something I know about myself.

I sure as CRAP hope there's an afterlife...
But there's not. So I don't get my hopes up.

Good points--when someone has been there--brushed with death, I guess that would be an exception. To not fear or at least feel some anxiety about the great unknown just doesn't seem very realistic or honest to me. If someone already "knows" to some degree because they've been there, it's no longer something to fear.

I don't know--maybe I've simply dug myself a hole. Oh, there's a pun there somewhere.

We can't possibly know for sure, but one thing is certain, if there isn't one, it won't matter, if there is one, you'll be pleasantly surprised !

Without boring you with the details, this last close call was a quick one, but the most revealing to me. For a few minutes I was sure I was a goner. I'd fallen and severely struck my head (I am still recovering) despite the fact that I thought I'd die, I was calm and felt a warmth over my shoulders. Now some people would say that's adrenaline, or some such, but I did not feel alone for those few seconds. I felt comforted and content. Like I said, I don't know if our bodies have evolved to protect us, or if someone was there, but my instinct said the later.

I just don't think there is anything to worry about either way. That said, I am very interested in some of the phenomenon I have experienced. With a degree in psychology, I am fascinated by it as it is entwined with our own minds but somehow is an independent phenomenon unto itself. Hope to understand it much better before I do finally die though.

Death is just the end of birth. From the moment you exit the womb your body is fighting death.
Hope is for life; not afterlife. A supreme being has little or nothing to do with hope. You create hope from your desires.
Every day is a new chance to learn and grow. Check out the compost pile and you will see what death is, worm food!
