I agree.
Of course, "under God" is NOT part of the original Pledge, and was added in the 1950s as a response to the Red Menace scare (communism). It doesn't belong there - an atheist, agnostic, polytheist, etc. should have no problem pledging loyalty to his country without having to amend the oath.

You're absolutely right, it was added later to the Pledge.
And, even as the resident Catholic, I don't care if it's removed from the Pledge.

Well, LOL, I'm a Christian convert (raised Jewish) and I think it SHOULD be removed.

As the resident "Born and rasied but now questioning" Catholic, I'm fine with "Under God" being taken off. Sure, every evangelist (...*shudder*) would throw a fit, but the nation as a whole wouldn't really care.

You mean people still actually say the Pledge ?? I'm glad to hear it...don't care if they say it with or without, just so they say it !

We get it recited to us in school. Nobody ever says it though, and no one puts his hand over his heart.
I don't care if under god is removed or not, it isn't that big a deal.

REALLY?! We recite it in school too, like all American schools I know of, but I'm surprised at your school.
