We aren't a democracy, though, we're a republic.

As for the institution of the Pledge itself, I abhor it - it reaks of Stalinism or Big Brother or Orwellian 'groupthink' or even militant nationalism. None of these are admirable things to aspire to. |

Republic is a more organized form of government. I like it just fine.

Simply because it says "God".
I don't feel that in order to pledge allegiance to this nation you must pledge it to god as well.

A democracy can never ever work. It is no better then a mob controling everything, and you say you want justice? Give me a ****************ing break.

I agree, there's a bit of
Quote:
.....but what you gotta realize that there has to be some sort of pledge, because we do want people to be loyal to the country, no? And all countries ask for loyalty, right? And the Pledge has changed occasionally with the times, and it wouldn't be a problem if it changed back right now, really. And what is a nation, in theory, other than a group of people united for a common cause? So, in this theory, we should be able to pledge our allegiance, as I have said, not to a flag, but to a theory, to an idea, to ourselves as a whole! if you agree with what I have said, there's a new feature on Political Fever that allows you to express agreement. look in the top right-hand corner of my post, and you should see a little silver scales button. use that.

No the president is elected by a electrol collage, which fairly spreads the amount of members to each state by number of people living in those states. So a liberal state like Califorina gets a lot of votes, which is fair, and a small state with little people in the heart land gets few. I say that is pretty fair.
