My town is really liberal, if that's what you mean. A regular godless hell-hole.
Ah. My school's fairly conservative (save Bizzle and select others...and kind of myself), and we have to "recite" it everyday (the first line or so's coherent after that...not so much). If it was changed, I doubt anyone would notice.

Which is really kind of sad when you think about it.

I refuse to stand up during it.
My teacher always yells at me too, and I just ignore her.

I miss the old pledge. We never were forced to say anything we didn't want to say, though.

Is it true that before Hitler and WWII, the pledge was said with an arm stretched out toward the flag?

Most of our teachers don't say it, either. I, and most other people, stand up out of respect, but I don't think you should have to, and I don't think you should have to say it.

Good for you! I'm glad to see that there are some young people who haven't been indoctrinated into blindly going along with the educational establishment and who aren't afraid of engaging in peaceful civil disobedience!

Are you insinuating that I'm indoctrinated or blindly going along with the educational establishment?

Indeed. However, I still say the Pledge because I really do want to pledge allegiance. Not to a flag, not to a leader, or a government, but to an idea.
