Pakistan, Bengaldesh, Turkey and Indonesia has women head of their governments. When was the last time the US, France and Russia had a woman head of its government? The US has the largest women in jails followed by China - And surely both of those countries are Muslim-majority nations. According to Amnesty International (2006) - 100,000 new prostitute are annually added into US market - and Israel is only country which has legalized sex-slavery - with an average of 5,000 White Christian women sold to Jews for sex-slavery. Why AI did not mentioned a Muslim country for such huge crimes? And the list goes on.... |

How can that mode of dress empower? Walking around wearing a sack? Women like pretty things. I recently posted an article to support a different thread, about Iraqi women who are forced to live under this religious regime. One was warned not to wear colourful head-coverings as it draws attention and religious extremists in Iraq are murdering significant numbers of women for not adhering to these guidelines. This woman was forced by fear to cover her head, but still attempts to bring the "pretty things" which women love into her attire by choosing appealing colours. It is not empowering, it is oppressive IMO. |

That is part of the conservative backlash to western influence in the region. That isn't the way that Islam has to be at all. Most Muslims are not even Arabs and do not live in the Middle East. Most western converts to Islam are women, and they do convert because they feel that Islam empowers them. Muslim-American Women Find A Voice In American Society - U.S. Embassy Islamabad Pakistan |

![]() Weak. You know very well that most of those verses have zero to do with the way a Christian is supposed to live. In almost every one of those instances, the verse is relevant ONLY to the specific person whom God is speaking to. |
