However, 10 is kind of short. More studies should be done on this topic; it's quite interesting.
Oh, please! Don't give me this "cultural bias" crap. Anyone born in the United States or who was naturalized as a citizen is an American and that is the only culture that matters.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Uh, no, it's not. Have you ever been to a big city? You're from Buffalo; ever been to NYC?

We're a melting pot. A combination of many different cultures. Good ol' fashioned white bread Middle America bullcrap isn't "the only culture that matters."

I've been to NYC and several other big cities - I even lived in San Diego for 9 years.

Go study what a melting pot is and what it does. And no one said anything about so-called "middle America." If you're going to disagree with me then I damned well expect you to disagree with what I said and not with what you think I said!

San Diego is the antithesis of what I mean.

I am well aware of the merging effects of a melting pot. The very existence of one, however, still implies cultural heterogeneity.

It amuses me that i grew up listening to my conservative dad griping about the academic elite and media bias.

So, the most educated and informed among us lean left?
HMMM I wonder why?
(maybe because it is the smart thing to do)

I remember a cousin of mine, after Cassini was launched, heard the news that quite a few new rings were discovered around Saturn and which are only visible from behind, because they're dark and can only be seen when backlit by the sun. His quote for all ages: "Them damn scientists don't know everything, hyuk hyuk!"

I said to him: "Uh, yeah, that's the point of the Cassini mission in the first place." He then proceeded to ridicule me for being a godless heathen evolutionist scientologist (even though I'm not a scientologist, I don't think he knew what that was). OK, I made the part about scientology up. But the rest is true.

Guess who he voted for in 2004? Here's a hint: If you stick an LL and an IT in this candidate's name, it spells out what his first election was!

Seems the way it goes. The people who study get no credit, from those that learned everything they need to know. From a guy who read a translation of a book cobbled together 1600 years ago by politicians.

Only until the melting process is complete.

I was very specific: I said AMERICAN. Why do you insist that there has to be more to it than that? I said American and meant American.

With a steady influx of migrants, it never is.

What I took from that is you meant white American culture.

When I was in San Diego it was the eighth largest city in the country and there seemed to be a pretty good mix of people there.

Perhaps.

That's the problem: you read something into what I said. You forget that I believe in a colorblind society. I said American and meant American - not white or black or brown or some other color American, just American.
