He is right though, the last major flip in American Conservitism occured in response to the developement of the New Left movement and due to the rise of the counter culture in the 60's. The spliting of the Liberal movement really ushered in major changes in American politics, especially with the birth of neo-conservitism.

I'm a Republican who thinks Iraq was unjust but is of the mindset of you break it you buy it.

I'm pro-choice, I think religion has no place in the government, I like my money and don't like taxes. I like my guns and want to keep them.

Registered Republican, though I have a somewhat paleotarian lean, and probably won't vote my party in November.

I'm a conservative, I mostly vote Republican. There are a few Democrats whom I like. Evan Bayh from Indiana. Norm Dicks from Washington. Believe it or not, I could live with Hillary as our President. I wouldn't love it, but I'd be okay with it. Not sure about Obama though.

Here's the problem I see. A lot of people are saying that politicians don't care about us, we need change, our views are being listened too, etc etc. We say this as though we all agree that we have the same beliefs, etc. Which we know that isn't true.
If we abolished both parties and started over, what would we have? The same mess we have now. What's important to you, may not be to me, and vice versa. This is what we have, we need to make the best of it. Has anyone been to countries where people don't get to vote?? Or voice their opinions, etc? We definitely have it good here.

I feel the opposite as you do about religion. The government has no place in religion, not the other way around. It's kinda like major league baseball and the steroids issue. Do we want Congress deciding how baseball should conduct business?? Heck no, baseball is messed up enough without Congress. But should Congress support Major League Baseball as America's Pasttime? Sure. There's a big difference there. Kinda like government and religion. Not exactly the same I know, but the point is government has no business screwing around with religion.

No party affiliation. Independent and happy to be so.
