Not completely correct.

Research this stuff, general libertarian views support ideas such as gay unions/marriage, abortion, the legalization of marijuana, etc., which are all beliefs of greater personal freedom that liberals share.

I wouldn't say liberals want to force it on you... I don't know the difference between the two things you mentioned if they both support it and would pass legislation supporting it.

No, authoritarians want to control every aspect of your life, liberals want to control the economic side of things and make government larger. They do not however want to control what sex you marry, if you smoke pot, or if you get an abortion. They want economic equality over economic liberty, and more personal freedoms.

Yes, libertarians and authoritarians are both supportive of more socialist ideas of handling the economy, while conservatives and libertarians support free markets and capitalism.

Yes, Libertarianism advocates less government and more personal responsibility. In a nutshell, a Libertarian is fiscally conservative and socially liberal. By that I mean we believe that an individual should be able to keep the fruits of his or her labors and not be forced by the state to give them up for wealth redistribution schemes like social welfare programs and foreign aid. On the other hand, Libertarians are socially liberal and don't care what others do as long as their actions don't harm others.

pman wrote:"libertarians and authoritarians are both supportive of more socialist ideas of handling the economy..."

Just wanted to make a correction here. I think you meant to say "liberal" there, pman because libertarians don't have socialist ideas, while the liberals of today do.

What Lumara said.

Libertarians favor smaller, less intrusive, less confiscatory government.

There is disagreement in the libertarian ranks over abortion...some consider it murder.

But generally we all want the government to stop labeling consensual behavior as a crime...

Most of us are antiWar in the sense that we see foreign wars as meddling and costly.
