I wouldn't be revenge?! Revenge would be if the robber shot him or his loved one and then he or his loved one went out and shot the robber or his loved one.
Plato, if someone had a gun held up to a loved one of yours head, would you wait and see if they shoot to act, so you could be fair and truly holding to the "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" or would act first, so you wouldn't have to possibly see someone you love get thier brains blown out?
