What not to find on your PC.
This Week's Top 10 Spyware Threats So there you are doing your web thing, cruising the Internet, not bothering anyone and you decide to play your lucky hand. I mean, what the heck, that free laptop looks so good, or was it that free trip, or coupons or how about that $1500 gift card at your favorite store. So before you even can think about it your finger goes click and you are off. But where are you off to - some marketing guys idea of heaven and your idea of hell as you click through screen after screen after screen downloading god knows what. Chances are you have reached a stultifying adware application known as WhenU.SaveNow or SaveNow. This malware displays pop-up advertising on your desktop in a rather noisy response to your web browsing. They are both essentially the same app which open contextually targeted pop-ups on your desktop. SaveNow is distributed from WhenU's website whereas Save! is bundled with other applications from WhenU's distribution partners. Watch out for the confusing prompt that asks you if you want to keep the installation, rather than if you want to uninstall it. Most uninstallers just ask for confirmation to uninstall. WhenU states that no personally identifying information is collected and that "your clickstream data" (i.e. a log of all the sites you visit) is not transmitted to WhenU or any third party server." It is annoying and do you really trust them? Next time exercise some cruise control! Trojan.FakeAlert: Trojan Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec: Trojan Downloader ClickSpring.PuritySCAN: Adware (General) Hotbar: Toolbar Virtumonde: Adware (General) Zango: Adware (General) Trojan.Unclassified.gen: Trojan WhenU.Save: Adware (General) Trojan.NewMediaCodec: Trojan Downloader IBIS.WebSearch Toolbar:Toolbar Stay on top of all the real-time threats: Spyware Threat Information - Antispyware Research
