Well, really old fashioned was getting married at 14 (for the girl) to some guy that was 35.

Around the world countries look at teen pregnancy in a completely different light. In some cultures children are encouraged to experiment sexually when they are quite young in order to make the right choice in partners.

I wouldn't dream of buying a car without taking a bunch of test drives. Maybe that makes me a pig, but, since I married for life, I am glad I found out earlier what wasn't going to work out.
Back to the actual topic, teen pregnancy is a major problem in many areas. I admire the nobility of the absinence-only viewpoint, but any stance that basically goes against human nature is bound to be...problemmatic. In my understanding, few kids have sex to become pregnant. ( I assume some do.) Kids fool around, experiment, pressure each other, etc. To teach that sex will always result in pregnancy is straight-up lying to them, which I don't think I approve of. A friend of my grandmother's was told by her mother never to sit on a boy's lap, that's how babies are made. Unsurprisingly, she did everything else, and was absolutely shocked when she got pregnant. So, I'm just not seeing how misinforming or not informing kids is all that helpful. If kids are to have any hope of making wise decisions (and that's what education is supposed to be about), shouldn't they have all the facts, good, bad and otherwise? Remember, the majority DON'T get preganant, so, obviously parenting and innate intelligence are big factors, too. To those who assert that sex ed "promotes" sexual activity, let me ask if learning about the Third Reich in history class "promotes" Nazism?

Yeah, in Europe. In the middle east you might get shot for doing something like that.
