Default Spam

We all get it. We all hate it. My old email address once got 128 spam messages in one day, about half of them for penis enhancement pills. Even with Google's filters and my own keyword and title filters, I just found I'd gotten 23 spam messages on my Gmail account.

It is estimated that 90% of all spam comes from only 200 spammers. Also, 70% of all spam originates from servers based in Taiwan (meaning that that is where the original message is sent, not from which computers sent it).

What should be done about spam? Personally I'd like to sentence all spammers to death by horse cockS. Plural. Meaning multiple.

Unfortunately, that counts as cruel an unusual punishment. It's also rather difficult to track spammers, especially when they go to places like Taiwan or Indonesia that have very loose anti-spam laws.

So what should be done?

Nothing much you really can do. But I can tell you how you will not get spam. Dont put your e-mail address into any third party website. I maintain two separate e-mails. One for my message boards, information, free **** etc. and the other is clean as a whistle. I only use it for family and friends. How much spam do I get on that account? Zero.

So next time you want to sign up for that free magazine subscribtion read the fine print, it will more than likely say they are going to pass your information onto partners and such. So there is your source for spam.

Oh, I know how to avoid the magazine ones. When I set up my savings account down here the guy mentioned real quick that they'd give my email address to "Business Associates," then tried to change the subject before I reacted, but I asked him to repeat himself and told him, "No I don't want your ****ing spam email." I would have told him to sod off and gone to another bank had I not known that they all did that.

And I don't sign up for free subscriptions for precisely that reason.
