Gay Activists Cross a Line
by RS Davis The Freedom Files ![]() Hello Freedomphiles! eHarmony founder Neil Clark Warren did not have a service for gays and lesbians. He said that the metrics he used were designed for straight people, and he didn't know if it would work for gay people. But after settling a discrimination case out of court in New Jersey, he raised the white flag and created Compatiblepartners.net for gays and lesbians looking for love. eHarmony's lawyer, Theodore B. Olson, said that the lawsuit "resulted from an unfair characterization of our business" and was only settled because "litigation outcomes can be unpredictable." "It’s a great victory," said Eric McKinley, the 46 year-old computer programmer who filed the lawsuit. "I tried to use their Web site, and you simply cannot. You only have two options: a man seeking a woman or a woman seeking a man. I’m a man seeking a man, and obviously I can’t force it to change its interface." But this is not justice. This is forcing a private business to provide a service it did not want to provide. It's like forcing McDonald's to open a sushi bar. As Reason's Jacob Sullum commented, "Potential customers excluded or offended by that choice then would have a right to go elsewhere, instead of forcibly imposing their preferences. Likewise, competitors would be free to take advantage of eHarmony's perceived shortcomings, as they've been trying to do." So, does this mean I get to sue PrideDating, GayFriendFinder, and GayMaleCenter for not matching straight people? |

I heard about this on the ol radio yesterday morning. This case makes no sense to me what so ever. Because like you said, it would be like forcing McDonalds to open a sushi bar. I fail to see how there is any base for discrimination, their buisness model just does not include an option for gays. They are not the only dating service out there.

We all know how far that would go though. They will contend that their are other options out on the world wide web. So they do not have to completely restructure their buisness model. Which would by ironic because the same could be said about their case against eHarmony.

Worth noting: eHarmony founder Neil Clark Warren did not have a service for gays and lesbians. He said that the metrics he used were designed for straight people, and he didn't know if it would work for gay people.
As for suing sites like PrideDating, we all know that the politically correct groups (the homos, the broads, the blacks and other color "minorities") are allowed to discriminate against the politically incorrect groups (the breeders, the men, the white folks).

The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

Sorry, the only entity that should be barred from discrimination is the government. My company has gone so far (against my wishes, which I have pretty much screamed to the entire management and ownership team) as to institute an overt policy of promoting women EVEN WHEN they're less qualified than their male counterparts. So now, I've got 5/7 loading supervisors who are women, of which only two should ever have been promoted. Hell, I spend almost half of my time dealing with employee and customer complaints now because we were so eager to promote women instead of competent supervisors.

They'd probably make up some silliness about the need to promote "diversity."

The problem with BigotryHarmony.com is that they take your money, don't tell you that you aren't welcome. They only tell you AFTER that. You go through the whole process, they rob you, and then they say they can't help you.
What do you expect from a Christian dating front? |
