This is grossly unfair and it would be a good idea for serious runners to boycott this stupid race from now on and make sure it gets a barrage of negative publicity. That first-place runner should be given a prize.

This reminds me of something that happened to a friend of mine at a local gym. After the holidays last year the gym sponsored a dieting contest and advertised that whoever lost the most weight in 8 weeks would win. M is very overweight and when she puts her mind to it the weight drops off quickly so she lost the most weight by far. You'd think she would have won, right? But no - in the middle of the contest, seeing that M was winning, they changed the rules so that the person who lost the greatest percentage of body fat would win. So a person who lost less than 1/3 of the weight that M did was declared the winner. M was livid and so was I. The rules that people started with should have been kept and if they decided it was unfair to skinnier people they should have changed the rules for the NEXT contest.

Justice is completely out the window in many aspects of American life.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
