This kind of thing wouldn't happen if the media idiots didn't try to write news in advance, didn't rely on bloggers as a source of information, and actually check their facts like reporters used to do (with few exceptions, the famous Dewey Beats Truman headline being one of them) before the baby boomers got into the media business.
Top Web News Gaffes - MSN Tech & Gadgets - Slide Shows - Products - 1 A sample: The latest such gaffe happened Sept. 26 when an ad for Republican presidential candidate John McCain appeared on The Wall Street Journal site. The ad declared McCain the winner of the presidential debate against Barack Obama -- a half-day before the debate was set to start and before McCain had even announced his decision to re-enter the debate.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
