I guess so. From what I was told by the webmaster, the little pissant wrote an article and got excoriated by some libertarians, so now he's just lashing out at libertarians on the site, regardless of whether they criticized his article.

Definitely insane!

I'm opposed to sex offender registries in general because of the legal theory that once someone has borne the punishment (fine or imprisonment) for his crime that he cannot keep on being punished for it afterward. It is presumed that once someone has served his sentence he has "paid his debt to society." But with sex offenders (which some how idiots seem to want to characterize this young girl - blame it on zero tolerance policies) they pay their debt to society and then are continually being punished afterward by the sex offender registry and by the behavior of the neighbors of these people.

Perhaps what should be done to sex offenders (which should be much more narrowly defined, e.g. rape, which includes child molestation) is castration followed by life in prison (since I don't believe in the death penalty) or, for those of you who believe in the death penalty, public execution.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

I believe it is part of the punishment. Part of the payment. Like my belief that judges should also sentence violent criminals to be on the no-gun list. It should be part of their punishment. I can agree with the last paragraph though.

Totally agree. You cannot punish someone ex post facto, and these registries are totally unconstitutional.

The problem is that they make them retroactive, so that people that have already served their sentences find themselves with new punishments.

I would do it differently at the sentencing they would get "I sentence you to X years on the list Muuhahahah" in a very creepy voice. Same with the gun list. It is part of the punishment and should be given during sentencing.

But you know full well that these people's neighbors aren't going to say "Well, he's no longer on the sex offender registry, so I guess I'd better stop harassing him and telling everyone he's a sex offender."
