Computer Users: Just as Stupid as the Rest of Us

Hello Freedomphiles! You know, now that everyone is on the internet, its users are just as stupid as anyone else. I can't tell you how many times someone I know has sent me an email forward about some new threat that doesn't exist.

Well, some researchers have proven what we already knew. They put a bunch of college students in front of computers, had them begin some task, and then hit them with this pop-up:

More than half of them clicked this button, and their reason? They just wanted to get rid of the dialogue boxes. Researchers postulated that "a familiarity with Windows dialogs have bred a degree of contempt and that users simply don't care what the boxes say anymore."

I can totally see that. When was the last time you turned your head to see if that car alarm was set off by a robber?

More here.

That is fantastic, . I read mine, well most of the time. I know what some of them are as soon as they pop.

Too late...she's here.

I think it's fine to post a half or entirely naked woman in every thread if you want a men-only forum.

For myself...bye. It's been fun meeting some of you. But this is no longer a decent forum IMO.

Rick, I had the same reaction as Viv when I saw yet another cheesecake photo. l agree that a couple of others may have had an appropriate context but this one DID NOT. BTW I didn't like the photo of the semi-nude pregnant woman in the cage, either.

Now it just feels like you are pushing the issue to deliberately provoke those who have expressed offense at seeing such photos on a political debate forum. Enough already!

Me neither. Those people are nuts.

(I'm not pushing ANY issue - these posts look exactly as they do on my blog.)

OK, I can understand that but please omit the cheesecake photos from now on when you post your blog here.

I'm not even sure what that means. I can see how one would think the picture of Alba was cheesecake, but is the horrible picture of the PETA protest cheesecake? Is a picture of a girl in shorts and a t-shirt looking at a laptop cheesecake?
