I think Geraldine Ferraro had a pretty good take on this: Just about all the sex scandals in recent times have been produced by male politicians. And this points to the fact that many women treat power (as embodied by national-level politicians) as an aphrodisiac, without sufficient regard for the long-term consequences. And those male politicians, in an act of pure cynicism, take advantage of this situation.

If this is going to be slime thrown at the Democrats by the Republicans, maybe the public needs a reminder of all the instances of Republican infidelity toward wives ( Craig, Vitter, the Governor of New York resigning over a prostitution scandal, a Republican mayor going to prison for 37 years due pedophilia with young girls, etc...).
There is a whole thread dedicated to Republicans ****ing up here...... So I would say all the **** throwing and smearing is equal on all sides.

Edwards having an affair does affect his governing ability. This guy promised to be with his wife and his wife alone, he had a hard time staying faithful and loyal to someone he was supposed to love. It speaks to his character. I don't know about all of you but I prefer people who give there word and actually stick to it. I could really care less about some stupid *** letter next to their name. I hold EVERYONE to the same standard. I think would would all be a lot better of if people did more of the same. But maybe people are just happy to play the "My team is better than your team game"

First and foremost, we had a thread posted here that claimed to be scientific evidence that Republican conservatives were more moral, honest and trustworthy than liberal Democrats. In fact that was posted TWICE by our hardcore right wing trolls here. And then someone finally responded with a thread about ACTUAL EVIDENCE about what the track record of the Bush Republicans actually was.

And the tragedy of this is that John Edwards is out of the game. He has not been in contention for any government positions since he dropped out of the Democratic primaries.

And who does this scandal hurt the most at this point. His terminally ill wife that is fighting against cancer.

This reminds me of the Democrats back in the 1960's breaking the news that Eisenhower had a love affair in England during WWII. This was after he was no longer politically active. I believe he had even passed. But his wife was still alive and the one hurting the most over the nationwide news.

There are places slimeball bullcr*p politics should not go. This is one of them.

I sincerely hope that if Karl the bottom dweller scum sucking slob is behind all of this, he has his gay lover come forward to explain all about Mr Turd Blossom Slob.

And this is exactly why discussion boards should not grossly overindulge blatant trolls to begin with (the original BS pseudo science story here that conservatives were so much more honest and trustworthy posted TWICE).

What a jerk. He always seemed a little slimy to me. I never voted for him. Thank god he didn't win the primary. This would have come out and McCain would have been a shoe in. What a jerk. He should never have run at all.

I was going to post my thoughts about this but Drake expressed my ideas perfectly. If a man cannot stay true to his marital vows he sure as heck isn't going to care about staying true to his oath of office.
