Default Missouri Police taser injured boy 19 times

Yet another case of brainless tasering by police? M

Missouri Police taser injured boy 19 times

Published: Saturday July 26, 2008

KY 3 News' Sara Sheffield reports on an injured teen from Ozark, Missouri who was tasered up to 19 times by police.

Passing motorists called Ozark police out of concern for the teen as he walked along the busy overpass. When the police arrived, the young man was lying on the shoulder of the highway directly underneath the 30 foot high overpass with a broken back and foot.

Doctors believe 16-year-old Mace Hutchinson broke his back and heel after falling, as his injuries are consistent with such a fall. The boy's family does not understand why police would have tasered the the teen 19 times after he was so seriously injured.

He had to be subdued. He might have bled on someone. Maybe he wheezed in the general direction of the cops so they had to defend themselves? :/

19 times? That sounds like a monkey playing with a taser.

I watched the video of the news report and am wondering if there was a video camera on the police car which recorded the incident. I can understand if the boy was agitated and the police feared he'd get into traffic and therefore needed to subdue him as possibly being a valid reason to taser once, but 19 times?

There are too many unanswered questions like how do they know he was tasered that many times? Did the cops admit that? How could someone with a broken back pose a threat to either himself or others? Were the cops just pissed off because of the anti-cop statements the boy was saying and tasered him as an act of vengeance? Why was the boy walking along the highway in an agitated state if no traces of alcohol or drugs were in his system? Does he have a history of mental illness? Without a video of the actual incident itself we may never know.

I really thought you were serious at first when I read it

But yeah if the kid was that badly injured then there's no way he could've been a threat.
