well then... if it's no big deal, then you must be in the habit of bathing in uranium water... so there's something I'd really like to know, southern man...

do you glow in the dark?

hey Mr and Ms Lurker...

do you think SM glows in the dark?

would YOU bathe in uranium water? would YOU drink water that has had uranium spilled in it?? would YOU eat vegetables that had been irrigated with uranium water???

no? me either...

Your apologist position for the nuke industry does not work after decades of such accidents. We cannot trust the corporations to run something like this is any confidence in their promise of safety.

Isn't this one of those newer designed reactors Techno was touting the other week that were supposedly safer than the Chernobyl reactors... I imagine he'll be a long soon to try and explain why uranium spills are common or should be expected with this type of reactor... or any of a number of excuses why this isn't the big deal we think it is...

I'd like that whoever ran them, ran them safely...

Good points... but the nuclear energy industry and lobby won't make any billion$ that way...

grasping at straws? sure reads like it

And what if you slipped and fell by grabbing the banana peel at the bottom of your barrel for arguments against solar energy?

he'd be speechless...

The new new ones are safer than Chernobyl reactors. That nothing's 100% safe doesn't logically contradict that statement. Simple to comprehend. You seemingly think they are no safer. That's as absurd as saying modern safety features in cars make new cars no more safe than old ones in accidents because sometimes, people still die in accidents.

It's uncommon. The quantity of significant accidents is actually small and the benefits to society far outstrip any small incident like this. Most of the danger came from the toxic materials spilled. We also have had oil, coal, and heavy metal leeching into water supplies, yet...amazingly, we don't abandon those industries. Because that would be stupid.

Your confusing a materials leak with a meltdown. The facility didn't explode and throw radioactive materials into the air did it? Not. Because that doesn't happen anymore. Period.

As I said earlier, the benefits of nuclear power are so profound it's worth it even if thousands of people die yearly across the world in order to have it. People die of things every day for no reason at all from preventable causes. This is at least a worthy cause that rarely kills people.

Oy! Dharmy Poo!!! You are that guy over at Current Events with the puffed up attitude about yourself being god's gift to energy discussions. And you are probably here instead of there because everyone knows you are a troll.

Let's see - the French are supposed to be the Euro experts in nuke energy and this can happen to them. Then before them, there were the Swedes being the experts and they almost had a meltdown. And in Asia, the Japanese are supposed to be the foremost experts in Nuke Energy and they have had their own leakage accident with the discovery that they built a energy plant over and earthquake fault.

Ok everyone else, please witness what will happen next. Instead of responding to the content of my posts about nuclear energy's track record, it will all be about me. That is because they don't really have a response to case after case after case of nuke energy screw ups.

And I am using the same name that I have used there for almost 16,000 posts there and over 6,000 here.
