Plenty. I've named four in a previous post who also happen to be from Argentina. And there are many others among their countrymen.

Can you buy a T-shirt with their faces on? not so much. But then that's what you or anyone else means when they say his 'memory and ideals will live forever'. At least I hope not.

That's optimistic.

I would tend to agree with Joe's assessment. I mean here in the states you have a bunch of emo teenagers running around with their Che shirts on thinking they are making some kick *** statment without ever understanding what he did. Let alone why he did it. Hell most of those kids do not even know where he came from haha.

No of course not, but (and I'm not comparing Che to Jesus here, well ok I am) if I said Jesus is dead: get over it my comment would rightly be attacked as it ignores the point completely. Jesus's memory and ideas will live forever and so will Che's, an idea is more than the man/woman behind it.

You have a fair point but I think your analogy goes a bit too far, I mean Che never claimed he would return to save all our souls. Though it would be pretty cool if he did. And I'm sure he'd love to see all the T-shirts, kinda like I'm sure Jesus would love to see people wearing crosses.

My main point, as you may have noticed (and I'm sure Joe did) is with the wording of the OP. Che's hometown is honoring him. Great. But the nation of Argentina isn't. And there are other people who share his nationality who are equally or more important figures within Argentina. Those are the two things I took issue with. I know it may sound pedantic, but that's just how I was feeling at the time.

I admire Che too, just not as much as you two guys do. And if there is a second coming I'm headin for the hills!

His Guerrilla Warfare was an amazing book.

Most of these kids probably couldn't even find Argentina on a map!

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
