Why shouldn't they also have a building? Who really cares why they're giving land to the poor. At least they're doing it. Have any anti-abortion whackos ever done anything constructive like giving land to the poor? Somehow, I doubt it.

They should do it without conditions, otherwise it is just using. I can't speak for any anti-abortion whackos, but I can say that many anti-abortion people have done quite a lot for the poor, and homeless, and single mothers, and other less fortunate people, many churches. My Church in paticular, every month, goes to NE portland (where most of the homeless are) and give out food and warm clothes. We don't require that they join the church or anything, we don't advertise that we are a church, we don't read bible verses to them while they eat, we give them food and warm clothes and leave them allone.

Yes, fortunately it doesn't get that cold (compared to other cities), and there is a good amount of shelter (to protect from the rain) under the many bridges that we have, but it still sucks for them. The City is currently trying to get more funds to open up more shelters and beds.

If PP were building an abortion clinic, the reaction by the "pro-lifers" would be understandable. However, they made themselves look utterly foolish and hypocritical for opposing a transfer of the property from PP to Habitat for Humanity to build low-cost housing.

Sheesh.

It's guilt by association. Some anti-abortion radicals feel that to receive anything from a vile organization like Planned Parenthood (whose founder advocated sterilization of the poor, people of color and the "feebleminded") is to receive blood money since at least some of that money came from the murder of unborn children.

Is it really "despicable" or is it consistent with their values as anti-abortionists?

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

They needed to put up a building(s) in order to have a buffer between the building and the street. They could build a strip mall or any other sort of building. They chose to give the land away for poor housing. How is that being uncaring? Talk about spin.
