WGRZ News - Feds OK Enhanced NY Driver's Licenses For Border Crossings
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- New York Gov. David Paterson says the federal government has formally approved the state's "enhanced" driver's license, which can be used to cross the United States border without a passport. The optional enhanced driver's license will be available for use next summer when passports or approved driver's licenses will be required for border crossings, including entry into Canada. New Yorkers will have to provide proof of citizenship to apply for the enhanced license at a Department of Motor Vehicles office. The license was a fall-back for former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was stopped last year in his bid to make it easier for illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses. The new, 8-year licenses will add $30 to the $50 cost of reissuing a license.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

Only if we let it.

Its already happening. Everyone is going to be so wowed by how easy it is to just have one ID card without realizing that all of their information is sitting on one cluster for any agency to access when ever it wants.

This is the part that people seem to miss: the government will package it in such a way as to convince people that they actually want the government to create a national ID and all that goes with it.
