I think that it is perfectly fair for the College to choose who they give their honorary degrees to. It is their call and no one "diserves" an honorary degree. That's like saying it's unfair that someone said they'd give you something for free but changed their minds.
Actually, I have to agree with another poster who said that honorary degrees shouldn't be given out in the first place because it belittles the work done by those who actually worked for a real degree.

What amazes me is this is still a topic. It was done and what anyone thinks about it should be addressed to the college.
8 pages that result in nothing but attacks at this point in time. And now the mods need to get involved. Hasn't enough happened sense then to draw attention to other topics in the news? But this is just IMHO. Aww never mind go for it...

Anymore off topic posts and there will be infractions, regardless who it is and who started it. If someone is going off topic, don't respond and go off topic with them.
To quote what I said just hours ago, "I think that it is perfectly fair for the College to choose who they give their honorary degrees to. It is their call and no one "diserves" an honorary degree. I agree. It is the college's call. If the college feels that Wright's comment or politics are way over the top, then they shouldn't automatically give him anything. Even though it may have been planned months ago.

They are making the same type of decision Barrack is making. Wright has gone over the edge recently. One of the key campaign people in the Clinton campaign made sure that he got interviewed and had all the rope he needed to hang himself. Even his own chuch retired him in favor of a younger and more positive minister.

To put an even finer point on it, today's Republicans can no longer even be considered "conservative" if they advocate elective war, massive deficits and runaway corporatism. Which they do.
