Had the Colombian military not made the attack on Ecaudorian soil, she would be free by now. The French government expressed their anger at Colombia scuppering hopes of her release by killing the negotiator, and now she may only have hours to live.

She would be free today if not for the adventure into Ecuadorian territory. The French government have expressed their deep disappointment and anger at the move. They obviously hold Uribe's government responsible.

It was on the cards, i think deep down you know it. You have your reasons to dislike the FARC, and that is fair enough, you are more than entitled to. But it was the Uribe government who messed this one up and them alone.

If anything, the FARC may have wanted to get her off of their hands before she died in captivity. They're not in such a fun position now, are they.

They have lost some good men, but if anything this all acts as a propaganda victory for them. The government come out looking like the thugs who cant be trusted, and we can only but speculate if the FARC would have followed through. Guven Chavez success in negotiations with them - they come out looking the better of the two parties.

That cannot be denied. But they at least looked to rectify that. They made her a prisoner, but then they looked to free her and the government stepped in and effectively re-sentenced her by their actions.
