I don't think it's a zero sum game like that.

I think anyone who reads between the lines (beyond the capitalist media line) and comes into the situation with a balanced view and not an anti FARC one will blame the government more so. The FARC must take a proportion of blame, but it is a case of diminished responsibility - given they were looking to get her off their hands.

Well, I think that a balanced view
is anti-FARC. However, a balanced view is
not, in my opinion, pro Government, necessarily. Certainly not if your goal is a peaceful resolution.
In the end, if she dies, the responsibility lays in those who killed her. Colombian's aren't going to be fooled by any obfuscations in that department. If anything, it will strengthen the support for the government to take drastic measures against the FARC. It will also remove the FARCs biggest bargaining chip, and make them appear incapable.
Personally I hope that she doesn't die, that the FARC allow treatment, and that they have the sense to release her. I'm not hopeful on any of those counts, however.

The part where you somehow try to make their kidnapping ok by saying "well they thought about maybe letting her go later." If that's the best thin the FARC can say for itself, it's a small wonder that their popularity is so low.
I figure that if I can get it past the filter, they can't yell at me. If I'm wrong, well, I'll take the slap on the wrist.
