According to exit polls, Romney was much more popular than McCain to republicans and conservatives.

Romney would do a terrific job further bolstering McCain's support among conservatives plus Romney is very well versed on matters involving the economy.

Romney's accepting the VP slot would put him a solid position for a successful run for POTUS in the 2012 election.

I have a neutral net feeling towards Mcain, however, I have a negative association with Romney...this conservative voter might not be voting for the GOP candidate if Romney is the VP.
