I read the article and wanted to note these points from it:
Quote:
While he laid out a half-dozen principles for closer scrutiny of the financial markets, he offered no specifics, such as which agencies should be reorganized or exactly how the government should go about peering over the shoulders of bank executives.
This lack of specifics is representative of Obama's usual, feel-good rhetoric about "change."

Quote:
Even before Obama finished his speech, McCain said in a statement, "there is a tendency for liberals to seek big government programs that sock it to American taxpayers while failing to solve the very real problems we face."
Although I'm no McCain fan, I agree with this statement. On the other hand, Republicans also "seek big government programs that sock it to American taxpayers while failing to solve the very real problems we face."

BTW I've been wondering why there have been threads with the word "Moderated" in front of the title and no responses. Maybe now I'll learn why...

Yeah, that is because these threads are posted by a news bot (politicalfever.org). Because it pops out about 40 threads a day, it often floods the board and also often posts duplicate news articles (one from AP, and one from Reuters, or something). So the mods can go into the MCP and go to mederate threads and approve or disapprove of which ones to allow.

You have to get the principles approved of before you talk about specifics, and does the section of government that does something really that important? Would you approve of policy X if done by agency A, but not agency B? It makes sence that you need to get Policy X approved of before doing details. One step at a time.

OK, that explains it! I knew what "Moderated" meant, but not why certain threads were being moderated, seemingly at random.

I agree his rhetoric is annoying......he seems to speak like JFK reasonably well but I don't think he can put his money where his mouth is in true Kennedy style. Most of his speeches seem to have hints of the old southern aristocrat style of speaking but one of the things that made that style of speaking so likeable was the determination of the men behind the words. I also agree that most of his stuff is pretty vague.

This is a point I have been making for some time now.

It's not vague if you go to his website and read his plans.

It's only vague to those who don't care to know.
