Default Iraqi Faces Possible Death Sentence for Visiting Israel

Iraqi Faces Possible Death Sentence for Visiting Israel
by RS Davis
The Freedom Files

Hello Freedomphiles! Bush's plan for Iraq was to free people yearning for freedom, and create a stronghold of Democracy, human rights, and tolerance in the center of the Middle East, encouraging its neighbors to follow suit when they saw how well it worked.

It doesn't seem to have worked out too well. Militias are still roaming the streets and slaughtering homosexuals, and now one politician is facing the death penalty for visiting Israel.

Mithal al-Alusi' is a pro-freedom, anti-terror MP in Iraq, who advocates peace with Israel. He went there to attend a conference of the International Institute for Counterterrorism. Conference organizer Eitan Azani commented: "We didn't invite him. He came on his own initiative. He wasn't set to speak, but he was in the audience and conversed with a lecturer on a panel about insurgency and terrorism in Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel."

Since then, the Iraqi parliament has stripped him of his immunity for visisting an "enemy state," and are planning to prosecute him under a 1950's era law that is punishable by death.

Armand Cucciniello of the US Embassy stated "It is an issue for the Iraqi parliament, not the U.S. Mission to Iraq."

Maybe, but what is the point of all these American lives and billions of dollars if we replace a dictatorial tyrant with a democratic tyrant?

This is insane! I thought Iraq was starting fresh. Why would a 1950s-era law still be in effect?

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Of course it's insane, but give the people what they want, if we are putting our money where our mouths are in supporting democracy. If this is the type of system they want, so be it. Actually, I don't recall us even asking the people if they wanted a democracy in the first place......

We don't have to like it. It's not our country. Just give them a copy of Democracy For Dummies and leave.

If that is indeed what they want, fine. But I thought that part of this whole regime change thing was to re-build the legal, economic and political system from the ground up.

It is. On our dime. Looks like we can't even succeed at converting Iraq into Ohio, either (not that it ever had a prayer of success, which was probably the point)

Time to punt and let the place burn.

it is already burning
Israel is considered as an enemy, mainly for religious reasons, you know the rest of the story.

I actually don't much care about the whole issue of Israel , we have much more difficult problems than this absurd one

by the way, that is not his first visit to Israel, in 2004 he visited Israel.....when he came back, they killed his 2 sons.

This is yet more evidence that Islam is a cancer on the world & needs to be dealt with as such.
