A lawyer and women's rights activist, Shadi Sadr, said the nine, who are between 27 and 50 years old, were convicted of adultery in separate cases in different Iranian cities. Trial protocol was not applied properly in the cases, she said. Six of the nine were convicted based solely on judges' decisions with no witnesses or the presence of their lawyers during their confessions, said Sadr, who has been leading a campaign in Iran against stoning deaths. "Their verdicts are approved, and they may be executed at any time," she told reporters. "We are trying to stop the implementation of their verdicts. And we want to amend the country's penal law, in which death by stoning is prescribed." Under Iran's Islamic laws, adultery is the only capital offense punishable by stoning. A man is usually buried up to his waist, while a woman is buried up to her neck. Those carrying out the verdict then throw stones until the condemned dies.

As much as I find this practice repulsive and barbaric, I am leery of criticizing the systems of other nations. Especially when we're not exactly beyond reproach, here.
It saddens me, but it is what it is. The practice is not new, and I can only assume these women (and men!) knew the risks. Maybe that makes me coldhearted b*stard, but I have to stay consistent with my policy of non-interference. The whole world does not have to emulate America or our values. So, I'll have to say "just another way", unfortunate as it is.

They also hang homosexuals. That's how Ahmy can say they don't have homosexuals. They kill them off. The stoning to death ritual is mandating in minute detail. There is a formally approved size and weight stone to use. Then traditionally, the would chop the right hand off thieves. The reason for this is that the custom is to use your left hand with water to wash your butt after defecating. Then people getting lashes is also ordered. For example, women who are dressing in western styles. Then if a woman is raped, she may be considered as a disgrace to her extended family and family members might murder her.
