What a surprise you all take the US assumption that he did something wrong. if he did then let due process work. Dont lock up a 15 year old boy for over 5 years without any proof but a confession taken under duress.
They should do as Amnesty International ask and try him in a court of justice, not an unfair kangaroo military court.

Clearly the kid had a wee bit too much beer, and not enough backbacon to soak it up.

This entire flap stems from the treatment of prisoners. The solution here is very obvious: stop taking prisoners. Simply shoot them.

Here is something to consider. His lawyers requested that all of his interrogation tapes be released and the best they could come up with is the guy lifting his shirt and showing "bruises" which I could not see. And then him crying. They did not even yell at him. Sleep deprivation is allowed under the Geneva Convention as well, so this is pretty much a non issue. Why is it that people to not get fired up about what the opposition does? Oh wait they are not the US that's right..... I do not condone torture. But honestly people, sleep deprivation being classified as torture? Give me a break. Last edited by Drakej : 07-15-2008 at 09:36 PM. |

This is disgusting that Americans are posting as if this is all OK. You right wingers accuse us of being unpatriotic for being against the Iraq war? Well I'm sorry to tell you but being for torturing a youth like this thread is about, is unAmerican. You torture lovers sicken me.

Though I condemn this sort of thing in any but the very most drastic cases, I would like to point out that, on the subject of Habeas Corpus, the President does have the constitutional right to suspend Habeas Corpus in a portion of the United States in what amounts to the interests of national security. I don't agree with Bush's use of that right, but he does have it.

Torture lovers? If you think that every unnice thing that happens in war to a prisoner is torture, than you can volunteer to pay the bill to make sure that they all get their own personal air conditioning and heater, so the temp is never uncomfortible, and you can pay for a five star resturant to make sure that they all have taste food so that they never go hungry, and that they have a plasma tv with a wii so that they are never too bored.
