Iran warns of closing Hormuz Strait

Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces says the Islamic Republic will close the Strait of Hormuz if its interests are placed in jeopardy.
"The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway and it is therefore very important for us to keep it open," Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on Sunday.
"It should be made clear that we will not allow anyone to pass through the waterway, if Iran's regional interests are jeopardized," he added.

Firouzabadi's remarks come after a recent New York Times report revealed that in the first week of June, the Israeli air force staged a maneuver off the southern Mediterranean Island of Crete in preparation for a war with the Islamic Republic.
According to the report, Israeli aircraft flew over 900 miles, roughly the distance from their airfields to a nuclear enrichment facility in the central Iranian city of Natanz.

Speaking one day after the 20th anniversary of the downing of an Iranian passenger plane by the US Navy in the Strait of Hormuz, Maj. Gen. Firouzabadi criticized Washington for bowing to Tel Aviv's every demand.
"The US military belongs to the government of the United States. Greedy warmongers like Bush and the Zionists must not be able to take advantage of this institution," said Firouzabadi.

The top Iranian commander said the US government is 'trapped in the jaws of global Zionism', concluding that the American nation and military forces should not be sacrificed for unworthy rulers serving the interests of Zionism.

You are correct. But some wars are fought covertly.
Here's a plan:

1. Israeli war planes bomb Iran's n. sites;
2. Iran blocks the strait with mines;
3. American ships are stuck;
4. There is panick in USA;
5. Israel wants to help US and strikes Iran's capital;
6. Iran uses its long range missles Shihab-3 to nuke Tel Aviv, Haifa and other cities;
7. Israel is gone, Iran opens the strait, America has no friend in the Middle East and its Navy goes back to US;
8. Later everyone starts asking - And where did Iran get the nukes? Wait a second.... From Russia?;

9. And Russia goes like - What? I have no idea what you people are talking about....

10. Then Russia moves in to the Middle East as a good guy to replace the USA.

11. And then all Arabs cheer and scream WELCOME RUSSIA!

Closing the Strait of Hormuz would be against international law. International law only allows countries to block military ships, not commercial ships. In any case, the oil coming out of Bahrain goes to more than just the US. It goes all over the world. Iran would not be stupid enough to try to block the Strait of Hormuz. In any case, half of the strait is owned by Oman anyway--Iran laying mines in Oman's waters would be an act of war.

As for your little "war plan," stop wanking in public.

Why? That would start a war with Iran, which is against Israel's interests at the moment.
Why? That would destroy the economies of Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, and would be a damned nuisance for Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. It would also be an act of war against Oman. Half the Middle East would declare war on Iran.
Again, why would Israel do that? It does not benefit them.
Iran has no operational nuclear warheads. Certainly none that they've tested.
More likely that the US would nuke Iran to glass, if Iran nuked Israel.

The Arabs only work with Russia because Russia opposes Israel, and Russia only opposes Israel because America supports Israel. Russia right now is supporting Iran, which is Persian, not Arab, which ticks off all of the Arab states, so it is very unlikely that the Arabs would welcome Russia as their savior. Also, the destruction of the Dome of the Rock (or at least its radioactive contamination) would turn just about every Muslim in the world against Iran/Russia.

Now clean up that mess you made and stop being a nuisance.

He must not understand what our Subs carry, as well as our Aircraft carriers.

We wouldn't need to nuke them ourselves, most of the free world that has nukes would do it. We could join if we wanted, but there is no need for over kill.
