kinda looks like I might be including Venezuela in the new leader thing. I was not. they are doing pretty well I think they will surprise people in the future.

If they really wanted to insure safe and fair elections, and a smooth transition they should have a real election. And invite the UN to help I am sure they would love to catch the US with there hands in the cookie jar.

The revolution was about the people, right? Or was that just typical South American dictator crap?

A new leader for Cuba and a new leader for the US Cuba wins. The American public is getting tired of these old grudges sustained by rich ***'s.

And Cuba has more then proven that they don't need us. I think a new fresh legitimate leader for Cuba Is just what the doctor ordered.

Bosco touched on this. It is a point that is never picked up on, but ought to be when people give it all this democracy talk.

Cuba has abandoned "democracy", okay fair enough. But Cuba is faced with being overrun by an empire. The other noteable period of history in which the same can be said of is WW2. The UK was faced with an aggressive empire who wanted to control it. The UK response - abandon democracy, throw the brownshirt Hitlerites in prison, after all they were in support of the empire who looked to destroy what Britain provided its citizens. Cuba does the same. They should not be attacked for this, they should be applauded as Churchill was.

Your analogy is flawed. Hitler was much more Direct. America intervention in Cuba is less direct. If we wanted to "Overrun Cuba" They would be a Florida owned Hotel resort.

It doesn't matter how direct it is. The threat is real, was the bay of pigs not direct ? Was the 600+ attempts on Fidel Castro's life not direct ? Is the training and funding of terrorism not direct.

And if you believe your last sentence you will believe anything. If you had got rid of the communist party 50 years ago, you would still be stuck there fighting now. People have gained too much to give up at the hands of yankee imperialsim. Brigades would arrive from all over the world and fight the imperialists untill the death.

How exactly would the "brigades" be arriving?

Conquering Cuba would be a cakewalk. Pacifying it would be obviously difficult as Cubans wouldn't sit well with an occupier, but do you really think that the US Navy and Airforce couldn't keep the entire world off of that island if they so chose?

I believe in self determination. I see no difference between you, a citizen of the UK, telling Cuba what is best for them, and me, a citizen of the US telling Cuba what is best for them.

Western Imperialism doesn't have to be capitalist.

Where there is a will there is a way. If people couldnt get to Cuba another means would be found. Che's words would be followed. The fight would come to the American mainland if need be.
