Default Bush and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown

Well some of Europe still cares enough to even talk about the real issues.

Bush, Britain's Brown plan to discuss Iraq, Iran - Yahoo! News

LONDON - President Bush and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown are confronting the twin challenges of Iran's nuclear ambitions and troop levels in Iraq in two days of talks capping the president's farewell tour of Europe.

Their meetings, which begin Sunday, amount to another get-to-know-you session between two leaders weighed down by their own woes at home.

Bush, who remains widely unpopular in Britain as he is in the United States, is pushing a broad trans-Atlantic agenda even as his influence wanes in his final months in office. And Brown's public approval has been undermined by rising food and fuel prices, unpopular tax changes and other troubles.

The two leaders will discuss what progress is needed in Iraq before more U.S. and British forces can return home, and both want to build international pressure on Iran to halt any possible nuclear weapons program, Bush's national security adviser Stephen Hadley said.

Maybe someone from the UK can explain how Brown and the Labor Party are surviving after Tony Blair was forced into resignation while still connected with the Iraq / Iran issue. Would it not be political suicide for Brown to be perceived as working with Bush on these issues? Didn't the UK political cartoonists portray Blair has Bush's poodle?

Sorry Michael I don't follow much of the UK's politics as American has far to much. But a very good question.
My point was that much of Europe isn't involved and once the problems are at the door step who will they turn to for help?

The answer would be yes. However, Brown has already committed political suicide, he doesn't have long left - two years until he will be forced to call an election. The fact he didnt call an election in the summer was the turning point for him. He hinted he would and failed to. He then went to Iraq as part of a publicity stunt during the conservative party conference, then he stole the policies they announced at their conference. Since then it has been a downward spiral. The government are almost the third party in the polls now, the party are at their lowest point since polling began. This will only make things worse, as there are mass protests being held today against Bush and his welcoming him will not be taken lightly.

He was indeed. The fact Bush didn't even bother to stop chewing when adressing our prime minister (the time they were caught with the mic's on) shows the complete lack of respect Blair had from Bush.

Their relationship brought great shame on the country, it is felt our Prime minister should not be subservient anyone, let alone an "imbecilc chimpanzee" as some have described him.

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America?

Update: I just read a news story about Brown sending more troops to Afghanistan due to the recent jail break and insurgency.
