Yea, while I do support giving aid to these people, as bad as it sounds, I can somewhat see part of what Matthew is saying. When you have that many tens of millions of people living in slums on ground barely above sea level, to bail all of them out for every flood that comes through would require massive amounts of aid. Money needs to be put towards a solution to their living conditions and possibly the movement of some of the lowest lying settlements to higher areas, only because the rest of the world can not afford to only give money to them only to have the same disaster happen a few years later.

We see this all around the world with one crisis after another. We need to stop throwing money at the problem and spend more time trying to create a lasting solution.
