However, I never considered Joes solution until I read his argument, and it does make sense, especially for future generations. I do realize though, that it will never be accepted by either side. I think in a perfect world, there has to be give and take. For example, if the Palestinians want Jerusalem as a capitol, then there is no reason it cannot be the capital of two countries. As far as land and borders, why cannot Israel give up land to find a situation suitable for both sides... As far as the settlements, if they are on disputed land, they should be removed until a compromise or solution is met. Individuals on both sides should be able to worship as they please..and be able to become citizens of either state without discrimination. There should be a feeling that Palestinian and Israeli are welcome anywhere and equal anywhere. I cant think of anything else.....but there has to be a middle ground for anything else. |

Just as an aside:
Can you imagine what peace would bring to both sides? It would bring Arab and Israeli investment in both states. Israel's bulldozers could build homes instead of destroy them. Hospitals, factories and schools could be built. The money used to buy tanks and missiles could be used. Palestinians would have employment and a better standard of living. You could mandate integrated schools in areas with Palestinians and Israeli's living together. Their children would learn about each other, instead of hate. There could be shared utilities, even a joint police force in both states. The possibilities are endless... But it would take men of vision and courage to bring this about. |
